On the back of recent news of securing £800,000 in funding to develop the company, PointOV has made a strategic move with the appointment of two experts to the management team.
Tim Morgan and Twanna Doherty join the team, bringing expertise that will drive the online ethical retail company into new territory.
Tim, well known for his director and board level positions with Traidcraft and Cafédirect, takes up the position of Finance Director.
Tim will use his expertise to grow the company financially and to manage the growth of the team. Just days into the job Tim is already planning an aggressive recruitment drive to bring in at least six more experienced professionals.
Tim said:
“Having been with Traidcraft through the days when it tripled in size, the prospect of driving PointOV to a similar position was too tempting to miss. The company has grown and evolved terrifically since its conception by Vic Morgan and Andy Redfern less than two years ago. With the new funding this company is now ripe to truly become the place of choice for consumers to shop for ethical and fairtrade products.”
Twanna brings with her strong strategic and process management skills through sales and marketing positions with giants such as Nike. She is also well versed in the fair-trade industry having led Traidcraft’s sales and catalogue marketing activities for seven years.
Joining PointOV as head of business development, Twanna will be managing the company’s efforts to source new fair-trade and ethical products, as well as overseeing branding and direct marketing activities.
Twanna commented:
“Having known Andy and Tim through our work together at Traidcraft, I recognised the opportunity to join a company at a time of crucial growth and was keen to bring my skills in sales and marketing to the team. The new wave of funding leaves PointOV in a strong position and offers me an exciting challenge.”
PointOV, and its two ethical trading websites, www.ethicalsuperstore.com and www.fairtrademedia.co.uk, is the brainchild of business partners Vic Morgan and Andy Redfern.
Both have vast experience within the fair trade industry and the pair has spent many months sourcing a wide range of products, making ethicalsuperstore.com the most comprehensive and complete ethical retail site on the web. The sister website www.fairtrademedia.co.uk offers retailers the chance to buy wholesale fair-trade products for competitive prices.
More than 1,500 different products are available and the websites even offer socially aware customers the opportunity to have their products delivered in an environmentally-friendly format.
Vic Morgan said:
“Andy and I have spent the last few years setting up a company that we had a great passion about and through two successful bids for a mix of private and public funding support, we are now in a position to bring in experts to grow our company through marketing and good financial decisions.
“Tim and Twanna joining us simply strengthens our position as their knowledge and experience in similar fields is second to none.”
